Arenal, Costa Rica

Other Costa Rica sights: San Jose, Zipline, Firefighters, Manuel Antonio Park, Disquis spheres, Costa Rica Flora, Costa Rica Fauna, Costa Rica Beverages, Tram and Pineapple plantation

Not far from the Arenal volcano we visited the El Prezoso restaurant for a tasty lunch.

Next door was a trail where there were guides whose job it was to point out sloths in the trees.
They set up telescopes on tripods to let us get a good look at them.

You will have to go to our Fauna page (link below) to see what we saw.

Jim, Linda, Nancy, and Alan are able to prove that we were there.

The peak of  the Arenal volcano is often hidden in clouds.
We were fortunate to have it clear for most of the day.

That  spot of white at the peak isn't a cloud.
The volcano wasn't erupting but we could see steam venting near the crest with clouds starting to gather.

And soon the peak was hidden.

It cleared again briefly

Then it disappeared for the rest of the day..
Here is what we saw from the hotel garden.

We stopped at a hot springs (heated by the volcano) on our way back to the hotel.

And to round out the evening we had dinner at La Fortuna.

Where we had this amazing dish and a margarita (the one with the rose) that has to be tried to be believed.
Thin slices of jalapeņo peppers and pepper powder mixed with the salt on the rim made it exciting but not overwhelming.
