Fire
departments along the Rhine

We saw fire departments and chatted with fire fighters on our trip on the Rhine
river from Switzerland to the Netherlands.
In Strasbourg there were three firefighter paramedics who were a bit
surprised that we were volunteer firefighters.
They were standing by for an anticipated protest.
They weren't very concerned saying that they were prepositioned because
unrelated medical emergencies may be hard to get to because of crowds.
Because of the protests they had been posted to locations to reduce response times.
Another look at their vehicle.

In Cologne these Ambulances passed our tour group.
They were probably returning to their station since they weren't using lights or sirens.
Here is the main fire house in Amsterdam.
